Farrokh K. Captain

i-Care Foundation — Pakistan

Farrokh Captain spent his life turning private wealth into public good. As founder of Pakistan’s i-Care Foundation, he built a bridge between donors abroad and communities at home, insisting that giving be organized, transparent, and effective rather than merely sentimental. Through his leadership of the Human Development Fund, he helped build and sustain 15,000 primary schools—proof, in his view, that patient, disciplined philanthropy could outlast any single government or any single gift. He brought that same rigor to ERFIP, where he was an early voice for the idea that philanthropists from the Global South deserved a seat at the table, not a line in someone else’s budget. We remember him as a builder—of schools, of institutions, and of the case that Southern philanthropy could be as exacting as any in the world.

Imane Rayess

Côte d’Ivoire

Imane Rayess, d’origine libanaise et franco-ivoirienne, a repris les rênes du Groupe Olympe à la disparition tragique de son mari, Nady Rayess, qui l’avait fondé. Sous sa direction, le groupe — deux quotidiens et un site d’information — est resté depuis 2015 le premier groupe de presse écrite de Côte d’Ivoire, l’un de ses titres ayant été distingué en 2017 comme meilleur journal d’information. En 2014, elle a créé, en mémoire de son mari, la Fondation Nady Rayess « Lisez-moi un avenir », dédiée à la lecture et à l’alphabétisation en Côte d’Ivoire. Deux ans plus tard, avec la même détermination, elle s’est lancée dans l’industrie du ciment en fondant Afriq TP, spécialisée dans le béton prêt à l’emploi. Formée en France et mère de deux enfants, Imane Rayess incarnait la conviction qu’un deuil peut se transformer en héritage durable — pour la presse, pour l’éducation, et pour tous ceux qu’elle a choisi de servir. Au sein du réseau ERFIP, elle restera pour nous un exemple de résilience mise au service des autres.
